Sources
When a calculator depends on a published figure or method, such as a tax bracket, a contribution limit, a benefit rule or a clinical scoring system, we take it from a primary source wherever one exists: government agencies, regulators, laws and regulations, standards bodies and peer-reviewed research. Cited sources appear in a numbered reference list at the end of the page, with the date each one was last checked.
Checking figures
We check the figures a page cites against the sources themselves. If a source and a calculator disagree, we correct the calculator.
Updates
Every page shows the date it was last updated. Figures such as tax brackets, contribution limits and benefit amounts change often, so check that date and the tax year a calculator uses before you rely on a result.
Estimates, not advice
Our calculators give estimates for general information. They are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional, such as an accountant, a financial adviser or a doctor. See our disclaimer for details.

If you find an error or have a question about this policy, contact us or use the feedback form on any calculator page. When a reported error is confirmed, we fix the calculator and update the page's date.
