Data Collected Automatically

Data Sent to Public Data Services

Some calculators fetch live information, such as exchange rates, market prices, weather, maps and driving routes, directly from public data services. When you use one of these calculators, your browser sends the request to that service, which receives your IP address and the details needed for the lookup, such as a place name you enter.

Data You Provide — Calculator Feedback

Some calculator pages let you rate the calculator and, optionally, send us written feedback. When you use this feature we collect:

  • the star rating you submit (this is anonymous — no email required);
  • any written feedback you choose to send;
  • your email address, which is required only if you send written feedback, so that we can reply to you. We use it solely to respond to your feedback — we never send marketing or promotional email, and we never share or sell it; and
  • a one-way hashed (irreversible) form of your IP address, used solely to prevent duplicate and abusive submissions. We do not store your raw IP address with this feedback.

Rating a calculator is optional and anonymous. Sending written feedback is also optional; if you choose to, we ask for your email only so we can reply, and we use it for that purpose alone.

Data You Provide — Contact Form

If you send us a message through our contact form, we collect:

  • your name and email address, so that we can reply to you;
  • the topic you choose and the message you write; and
  • a one-way hashed (irreversible) form of your IP address and your browser's user-agent string, used solely to prevent spam and abusive submissions. We do not store your raw IP address with your message.

We use this information only to read and respond to your message. We never send marketing or promotional email to the address you give us, and we never share or sell it.

How We Use Personal Data

We use the data described in this Privacy Policy to:

  • provide, maintain and secure the Site, including protecting our forms from spam and abuse;
  • understand how the Site is used so that we can improve it;
  • find and fix errors;
  • show advertising on the Site; and
  • reply to feedback and messages you send us.

Employees

Service Providers

We use the following service providers to run the Site. Each handles the data it receives under its own privacy policy:

  • DigitalOcean hosts the Site and its database (privacy policy).
  • Cloudflare delivers the Site's pages and protects it from abuse, and its Turnstile service checks that our forms are used by people rather than automated programs (privacy policy).
  • Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, measures how visitors use the Site (privacy policy).
  • Fathom Analytics provides cookie-free visitor statistics (data policy).
  • Sentry receives technical details when an error occurs on a page, such as the page address, browser and device type, and the error itself, so that we can fix it (privacy policy).
  • Google Fonts, cdnjs and jsDelivr serve fonts and code libraries used by the Site, and receive your IP address and browser information when your browser loads those files.

Advertising Partners

Advertising on the Site is provided by Playwire LLC. Playwire and the advertising companies it works with, including Google, Amazon and other advertising exchanges, bidders and identity providers, use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address, device and browser information, advertising identifiers and the pages you visit. They use this information to show ads, measure how ads perform, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent fraud and, where permitted, show ads based on your interests.

All or partial advertising on this Website or App is managed by Playwire LLC. How We Protect Your Personal Data

The Site is served only over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and the data we store is held with our hosting provider, with access limited to the people who need it to operate the Site. IP addresses submitted with feedback and contact messages are stored only in one-way hashed form.

While we take all reasonable precautions to ensure that user data is secure and that users are protected, there always remains the risk of harm. The Internet as a whole can be insecure at times and therefore we are unable to guarantee the security of user data beyond what is reasonably practical.

Children

We do not knowingly collect or use personal data from children under 13 years of age. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 years of age, the personal data will be deleted as soon as possible. If a child under 13 years of age has provided us with personal data their parent or guardian may contact our privacy officer.

Cookie Policy
