Introduction

This Pesos to Dollars Calculator changes Mexican pesos (MXN) into US dollars (USD) in seconds. Type an amount, and you get the answer right away. You can also tap the swap button to go the other way and change dollars into pesos.

The tool uses the mid-market rate, which is the rate you see in the news. It sits in the middle of the buy price and the sell price. Banks and money apps often add a fee on top, so your real payout may be a bit less.

You also get more than a number. The calculator shows the steps behind the math, a chart of past rates, and stats for the last 7, 30, and 90 days. That helps you see if today's rate is high or low compared to normal. Quick tables at the bottom show common amounts, like 100, 500, or 1,000 pesos, so you can check a value fast or copy it with one click.

This is handy if you send money home, shop online, plan a trip to Mexico, or get paid in pesos. Rates move every day, so check back before you make a big transfer. If you need other pairs, try our Currency Calculator, Euro to USD Calculator, CAD to USD Calculator, or Pounds to Dollars Calculator.

How to use our Pesos to Dollars Calculator

Type how many Mexican pesos you have, and the calculator shows what they are worth in US dollars at today's live exchange rate, plus the math steps, rate charts, and quick conversion tables.

Mexican Peso (MXN): Type the peso amount you want to change into dollars. You can use decimals, like 1500.50. The dollar answer updates as you type.

US Dollar (USD): Type a dollar amount here instead if you want to know how many pesos it buys. The peso box fills in for you.

Swap button: Click the arrows to flip the direction between pesos to dollars and dollars to pesos.

Clear buttons (×): Click the × next to a box to erase both amounts and start over.

Calculate and Reset: Click Calculate to refresh the result. Click Reset to go back to the starting amount and settings.

Chart time period: Pick 48H, 1W, 1M, 6M, 12M, or 5Y to see how the peso to dollar rate moved over that time. To measure the move between any two rates yourself, use the Percent Change Calculator.

Rates or Converted Value tabs: Choose Rates to see past exchange rate highs, lows, and averages. Choose Converted Value to see what your amount was worth in each period. The Average Calculator and Standard Deviation Calculator can help you dig deeper into those numbers.

Copy buttons: Click the copy icon in the conversion tables to copy any converted amount.

Pesos to Dollars: What It Means

Converting pesos to dollars means trading Mexican pesos (MXN) for United States dollars (USD). The number you get depends on the exchange rate. The rate tells you how many dollars one peso is worth right now. For example, if the rate is 0.058, then 1 peso equals about 5.8 cents, and 1,000 pesos equals about US$58.

How the Exchange Rate Works

The peso to dollar rate changes every day, and even every minute, while markets are open. Banks, traders, and companies buy and sell both currencies all day long, and that buying and selling sets the price.

There are two ways to say the same rate:

  • MXN/USD – how many dollars one peso buys (a small number, like 0.058).
  • USD/MXN – how many pesos one dollar buys (a bigger number, like 17.06).

They are flipped versions of each other. If you know one, you can find the other by dividing 1 by it. Traders track those moves in pips — see the Pip Calculator and Forex Profit Calculator if you trade USD/MXN, and the Lot Size Calculator or Position Size Calculator to size a trade safely.

What Moves the Peso

A few big things push the rate up or down:

  • Interest rates. When Banco de México pays more than the U.S. Federal Reserve, more people want pesos, and the peso gets stronger. Compare yields with the interest rate calculator.
  • Oil prices. Mexico sells oil, so higher oil prices often help the peso.
  • Trade and jobs. Mexico sends most of its exports to the U.S., so news about U.S. demand or trade rules matters a lot. Importers can estimate landed costs with the Customs Duty Calculator.
  • Remittances. Money sent home by workers in the U.S. brings billions of dollars into Mexico each year.
  • Risk news. Elections, inflation reports, and world worries can make the rate jump fast. The Inflation Calculator shows how rising prices eat into buying power over time.

Mid-Market Rate vs. What You Actually Get

The rate shown here is the mid-market rate. That is the middle point between the buy price and the sell price. It is the fairest rate to use for math, but it is not always the rate you get at the counter.

Banks, airports, and money changers add a markup, plus a flat fee. So if the mid-market rate says 1,000 pesos equals US$58, you may only get US$54 or US$55 in real life. Airport booths usually give the worst deal. Banks, credit unions, and online transfer apps usually give the best. To see how much a markup costs you, run the numbers through the Markup Calculator or the Percent Difference Calculator.

Tips for a Better Rate

  • Compare the offer to the mid-market rate first. The gap is the real cost.
  • Ask for the total cost, including fees, not just the rate. A PayPal Fee Calculator is useful if you get paid online across borders.
  • Skip airport and hotel exchange desks when you can.
  • Use cards that do not charge foreign transaction fees, and pick to be charged in pesos, not dollars.
  • For big amounts, check a few places. Even a small rate change matters.
  • Budget your trip spending ahead of time with the Trip Cost Calculator and compare living expenses using the Cost of Living Calculator.

Why Watch the History

Looking at past rates helps you see if today is a good day to trade. If the rate is above the 30-day average, each peso buys more dollars than usual. If it is below, you get less. Rates move in cycles, so a week of waiting can change your total by a few percent — good to know when you are sending money home, paying rent, or planning a trip.

If you hold currency as an investment rather than for spending, the ROI Calculator and CAGR Calculator can show your gain over time, while the Capital Gains Tax Calculator helps you plan for tax on currency or asset profits.

Frequently asked questions

Is the exchange rate in this calculator live?

Yes. The tool pulls the latest mid-market MXN to USD rate when the page loads. The time stamp in the blue bar shows when it was last updated. Reload the page to grab a fresh rate. If the live feed does not answer, the tool uses a backup rate and shows a note.

How often does the peso to dollar rate change?

It moves all day long on weekdays while world markets are open. On weekends and holidays the market is closed, so the rate stays flat until trading starts again.

How much is 1,000 pesos in US dollars?

At a rate near 0.058, 1,000 pesos is about US$58. Type 1000 in the peso box to see the exact amount at today's live rate. The quick table also lists 1,000 pesos and other common amounts.

Does the result include bank or app fees?

No. The answer is the pure mid-market value. Your bank, app, or exchange desk will add a markup or a flat fee, so your real payout will be a little lower. Ask for the total cost before you send money.

What does the volatility percent in the stats table mean?

It shows how much the rate bounced up and down in that period. A low number means the rate was steady. A high number means it jumped a lot, so the value you get can change fast from day to day.

What does the arrow badge with previous close mean?

It compares the current rate to the last daily closing rate.

  • Green up arrow: the peso is buying more dollars than it did yesterday.
  • Red down arrow: the peso is buying fewer dollars.

How do I know if today's rate is good?

Look at the yellow box under the converter. It tells you how far today's rate sits above or below the 30-day average. Above the average means each peso buys more dollars than usual.

Why does the rate show 5 or 7 decimal places?

One peso is worth only about six cents, so small digits matter. Extra decimals keep large conversions, like 500,000 pesos, correct to the cent.

Do I need to type commas or a peso sign?

No. Just type the numbers. The tool adds commas for you and ignores letters and symbols. You can use a decimal point for centavos, like 250.75.

How many characters can I enter?

Up to 15 characters in each box, which covers amounts into the trillions. If you type more, the tool shows a short error message under the box.

What happens when I click the swap button?

It flips the direction between pesos to dollars and dollars to pesos. The amounts stay linked, so the totals do not change. The labels, the steps, and the chart switch to match the new direction.

Can I look up the rate for one past date?

There is no date picker, but you can hover or tap any point on the chart to see the rate for that day. The stats table also shows the high, low, and average for the last 7, 30, and 90 days.

Why does the chart say the data is illustrative?

That note shows only when the live history has not loaded yet or could not be reached. In that case the chart uses sample numbers so the page still works. Refresh the page to try again.

Can I use this result for taxes or official forms?

Use it as an estimate. Tax offices usually want the rate from your bank or transfer receipt, or an official yearly rate. Keep your receipts for the real numbers.

Does the calculator save my amounts?

No. All math runs in your browser. Your amounts are not stored or sent anywhere.

Why do other sites show a slightly different rate?

Sites pull their rates at different moments and from different data feeds. Some also add their own markup. Small gaps are normal, but a large gap usually means a fee is baked into the rate.

What do MEX$ and US$ mean in the tables?

MEX$ marks Mexican pesos and US$ marks United States dollars. Both currencies use a dollar sign, so the letters keep them clear.

Does the tool work on a phone?

Yes. The boxes, buttons, and chart all resize for small screens. Tables scroll sideways, and the copy buttons work with a tap.
