Introduction
This Pesos to Dollars Calculator changes Mexican pesos (MXN) into US dollars (USD) in seconds. Type an amount, and you get the answer right away. You can also tap the swap button to go the other way and change dollars into pesos.
The tool uses the mid-market rate, which is the rate you see in the news. It sits in the middle of the buy price and the sell price. Banks and money apps often add a fee on top, so your real payout may be a bit less.
You also get more than a number. The calculator shows the steps behind the math, a chart of past rates, and stats for the last 7, 30, and 90 days. That helps you see if today's rate is high or low compared to normal. Quick tables at the bottom show common amounts, like 100, 500, or 1,000 pesos, so you can check a value fast or copy it with one click.
This is handy if you send money home, shop online, plan a trip to Mexico, or get paid in pesos. Rates move every day, so check back before you make a big transfer. If you need other pairs, try our Currency Calculator, Euro to USD Calculator, CAD to USD Calculator, or Pounds to Dollars Calculator.

Mexican Peso (MXN): Type the peso amount you want to change into dollars. You can use decimals, like 1500.50. The dollar answer updates as you type.
US Dollar (USD): Type a dollar amount here instead if you want to know how many pesos it buys. The peso box fills in for you.
Swap button: Click the arrows to flip the direction between pesos to dollars and dollars to pesos.
Clear buttons (×): Click the × next to a box to erase both amounts and start over.
Calculate and Reset: Click Calculate to refresh the result. Click Reset to go back to the starting amount and settings.
Chart time period: Pick 48H, 1W, 1M, 6M, 12M, or 5Y to see how the peso to dollar rate moved over that time. To measure the move between any two rates yourself, use the Percent Change Calculator.
Rates or Converted Value tabs: Choose Rates to see past exchange rate highs, lows, and averages. Choose Converted Value to see what your amount was worth in each period. The Average Calculator and Standard Deviation Calculator can help you dig deeper into those numbers.

Pesos to Dollars: What It Means
Converting pesos to dollars means trading Mexican pesos (MXN) for United States dollars (USD). The number you get depends on the exchange rate. The rate tells you how many dollars one peso is worth right now. For example, if the rate is 0.058, then 1 peso equals about 5.8 cents, and 1,000 pesos equals about US$58.
How the Exchange Rate Works
The peso to dollar rate changes every day, and even every minute, while markets are open. Banks, traders, and companies buy and sell both currencies all day long, and that buying and selling sets the price.
There are two ways to say the same rate:
- MXN/USD – how many dollars one peso buys (a small number, like 0.058).
- USD/MXN – how many pesos one dollar buys (a bigger number, like 17.06).
They are flipped versions of each other. If you know one, you can find the other by dividing 1 by it. Traders track those moves in pips — see the Pip Calculator and Forex Profit Calculator if you trade USD/MXN, and the Lot Size Calculator or Position Size Calculator to size a trade safely.
What Moves the Peso
A few big things push the rate up or down:
- Interest rates. When Banco de México pays more than the U.S. Federal Reserve, more people want pesos, and the peso gets stronger. Compare yields with the interest rate calculator.
- Oil prices. Mexico sells oil, so higher oil prices often help the peso.
- Trade and jobs. Mexico sends most of its exports to the U.S., so news about U.S. demand or trade rules matters a lot. Importers can estimate landed costs with the Customs Duty Calculator.
- Remittances. Money sent home by workers in the U.S. brings billions of dollars into Mexico each year.
- Risk news. Elections, inflation reports, and world worries can make the rate jump fast. The Inflation Calculator shows how rising prices eat into buying power over time.
Mid-Market Rate vs. What You Actually Get
The rate shown here is the mid-market rate. That is the middle point between the buy price and the sell price. It is the fairest rate to use for math, but it is not always the rate you get at the counter.
Banks, airports, and money changers add a markup, plus a flat fee. So if the mid-market rate says 1,000 pesos equals US$58, you may only get US$54 or US$55 in real life. Airport booths usually give the worst deal. Banks, credit unions, and online transfer apps usually give the best. To see how much a markup costs you, run the numbers through the Markup Calculator or the Percent Difference Calculator.
Tips for a Better Rate
- Compare the offer to the mid-market rate first. The gap is the real cost.
- Ask for the total cost, including fees, not just the rate. A PayPal Fee Calculator is useful if you get paid online across borders.
- Skip airport and hotel exchange desks when you can.
- Use cards that do not charge foreign transaction fees, and pick to be charged in pesos, not dollars.
- For big amounts, check a few places. Even a small rate change matters.
- Budget your trip spending ahead of time with the Trip Cost Calculator and compare living expenses using the Cost of Living Calculator.
Why Watch the History
Looking at past rates helps you see if today is a good day to trade. If the rate is above the 30-day average, each peso buys more dollars than usual. If it is below, you get less. Rates move in cycles, so a week of waiting can change your total by a few percent — good to know when you are sending money home, paying rent, or planning a trip.
If you hold currency as an investment rather than for spending, the ROI Calculator and CAGR Calculator can show your gain over time, while the Capital Gains Tax Calculator helps you plan for tax on currency or asset profits.
