Mouse Sensitivity Converter: What It Does

Every FPS game uses its own sensitivity scale. A setting of 1.5 in Counter-Strike 2 does not move your view the same amount as 1.5 in Valorant or Apex Legends. A sensitivity converter fixes that. It takes your aim from one game and finds the matching number in another game, so your muscle memory still works when you switch titles.

How Sensitivity Really Works

Your mouse sends "counts" to your PC. DPI decides how many counts you get per inch of mouse movement. The game then turns each count into a small turn, measured in degrees. Every game has a hidden number called yaw that sets how many degrees one count turns you. Source games (like CS2) use 0.022 degrees per count at sensitivity 1. Valorant uses 0.07. That is why the numbers look so different between games.

Why Match Methods Matter

If both games had the same FOV, you would just match cm/360° and be done. But games use different FOV values, so a perfect match is not possible. You pick which part of the screen you want to feel the same:

  • 360° Distance keeps the same full spin distance in both games. Best for hipfire, tracking, and flick shots that leave the screen. This is the most popular choice.
  • Monitor Distance (MDH / MDV) matches how far a target moves across a set part of your screen, like 75%. Best for ADS and scoped aim where FOV changes a lot.
  • Viewspeed is a blend that trades a little accuracy on both ends to feel smooth overall.
  • Jedi's Trick is monitor matching locked at about 70.7% of the screen, a common middle-ground setting.

Hipfire, ADS, and Scope

Most shooters use three aim states, and each one can need its own conversion. Hipfire uses your base sensitivity. ADS and scope zoom in, which narrows your FOV. Many games use a separate ADS multiplier for this. Converting each state on its own keeps your aim steady whether you are spraying, aiming down sights, or sniping.

Tips for Better Results

  • Use the same DPI in both games when you can. It removes one more thing that can go wrong.
  • Set your real resolution and FOV. Wrong FOV values give wrong answers on every method except 360° distance.
  • Keep Windows pointer speed at 6/11 (the middle notch). Any other setting adds scaling that hurts precision.
  • Turn off mouse acceleration in Windows and in game. Conversions assume a steady, one-to-one input.
  • Most pro FPS players sit between 25 and 50 cm per 360°. Lower means more control, higher means faster turns.

What is a good cm/360 for FPS games?

Most pro players use 25 to 50 cm per 360°. Around 30 to 40 cm is a safe middle ground for new players.

  • Under 25 cm: fast turns, harder to aim small
  • 25 to 50 cm: good mix of speed and control
  • Over 50 cm: very steady aim, but you need a big mousepad

Try 35 cm first, then adjust by small steps until flicks land without over-shooting.

How do I convert CS2 sensitivity to Valorant?

Divide your CS2 sensitivity by 3.18. That is the ratio between the two yaw values (0.07 ÷ 0.022).

Example: CS2 sens 1.5 ÷ 3.18 = 0.472 in Valorant.

This only works if your DPI is the same in both games. If your DPI is different, multiply by your old DPI and divide by your new DPI.

What is yaw in mouse sensitivity?

Yaw is how many degrees your view turns for one mouse count at sensitivity 1. It is set by the game, not by you.

Yaw is why the same number feels totally different from game to game.

Does DPI or in-game sensitivity matter more?

Neither. What matters is the two multiplied together, called eDPI. DPI 800 at sens 1 feels the same as DPI 400 at sens 2.

Small differences do exist: very low DPI (under 400) can cause jitter, and very high DPI (over 3200) can pick up hand shake. Most players stay at 800 or 1600 and change the in-game number.

Should I use 360 distance or monitor distance matching?

Use 360° Distance for hipfire. It keeps your full spin the same, so your turns and wide flicks stay familiar.

Use Monitor Distance for ADS and scopes. When you zoom in, FOV changes a lot, and monitor matching keeps targets moving the same amount on screen.

Monitor Distance Vertical at 0% is the same as coefficient matching, and 75% is the most common setting.

Why does my sensitivity feel different after changing FOV?

Because FOV changes how far a target moves on your screen, not how fast your view turns.

A wider FOV squeezes more world into the same screen, so targets look smaller and move less in pixels. Your cm/360° stays the same, but your aim feels slower and less precise.

If you change FOV and want the same on-screen feel, redo your conversion with monitor distance matching.

What is eDPI and how do I calculate it?

eDPI means effective DPI. The formula is:

eDPI = mouse DPI × in-game sensitivity

Example: 800 DPI × 0.45 sens = 360 eDPI.

It lets you compare two players fairly, even if they use different DPI. But eDPI only works inside one game, since each game has its own yaw.

Should Windows pointer speed be 6/11?

Yes. 6/11 is the middle notch and it is the only setting with a 1.0 multiplier, meaning no counts are added or dropped.

Lower notches multiply your input by fractions like 0.5 or 0.25, which throws away mouse counts and makes fine aim skip. Higher notches double up counts, which adds jitter.

Also uncheck Enhance Pointer Precision. That is mouse acceleration.

How do I convert ADS sensitivity between games?

Convert the ADS state on its own, not just hipfire. Steps:

  1. Find your ADS FOV in both games (zoom narrows it)
  2. Enter your ADS multiplier from each game
  3. Use Monitor Distance Vertical at 75% instead of 360° distance

Games handle ADS in different ways. Some use one multiplier for all scopes, others use per-optic values. Match each scope level separately if the game allows it.

Why can't sensitivity be matched perfectly between two games?

Because the games use different FOV values. When FOV differs, no single number can keep both your full 360° spin and your on-screen target movement the same.

You have to pick which one matters more:

  • Same spin distance = 360° matching
  • Same on-screen movement = monitor distance matching

If both games use the exact same FOV, the methods all give the same answer and the match is perfect.

What is Viewspeed sensitivity matching?

Viewspeed is a blend method. It mixes the FOV ratio with the tangent ratio, so it lands between 360° matching and monitor distance matching.

It is a good pick when you switch between games with a moderate FOV gap and you do not want either extreme. Viewspeed Vertical is the more common of the two.

Does mouse acceleration break sensitivity conversion?

Yes. Conversions assume every mouse count turns you the same amount. Acceleration changes the turn based on how fast you move, so your cm/360° is no longer a fixed number.

Turn off Enhance Pointer Precision in Windows and any in-game acceleration setting before you convert.

What sensitivity do pro CS2 players use?

Most CS2 pros run 400 or 800 DPI with an in-game sens between 0.7 and 2.5, giving roughly 700 to 1000 eDPI.

In cm/360° terms that is about 30 to 50 cm. Low sens helps with the game's spray control and long-range rifle duels.

How does stretched resolution affect sensitivity?

Stretched 4:3 changes your horizontal FOV, which changes how far targets move on screen. Your cm/360° does not change at all.

If you match by 360° distance, nothing needs to change. If you match by monitor distance, set the right aspect ratio, because stretched and black bars give different results.

Why is Fortnite sensitivity such a small decimal?

Fortnite has a very high yaw of 0.5555 degrees per count. That means a tiny sensitivity number still turns you a lot.

Fortnite also shows sensitivity as a percent (0 to 100) in the basic menu. Turn on Advanced Options to see the raw decimal value, which is what converters use.

Does refresh rate or FPS change my sensitivity?

No. Your cm/360° stays the same at 60 FPS or 360 FPS. Yaw and DPI are the only things that set your turn speed.

Higher frame rates feel smoother and cut input lag, so aim feels more responsive. But the actual math does not change.

How do I find my current cm/360?

Use this formula:

cm/360° = (360 ÷ (yaw × sens)) ÷ DPI × 2.54

Example, CS2 at 800 DPI and 1.5 sens:
360 ÷ (0.022 × 1.5) = 10,909 counts
10,909 ÷ 800 × 2.54 = 34.6 cm

You can also test it: mark a spot on your pad, spin exactly 360° in game, and measure the slide.

Is low or high sensitivity better for aiming?

Low sensitivity (40 cm+) gives more precise micro-aim and steadier tracking, but you need arm movement and a big pad.

High sensitivity (under 25 cm) lets you turn fast and check corners quickly, but small hand shakes hurt your aim more.

Most players do best around 30 to 40 cm. Pick one and stick with it for a few weeks before you judge.

Do I need to change sensitivity when I get a new mousepad?

Not the setting, but maybe the number. A bigger pad lets you go lower sens without running out of room. A smaller pad may force you higher.

Pad speed also matters. A slower control pad feels heavier at the same cm/360°, so some players raise sens slightly when they switch.

What does 0% monitor distance matching mean?

0% monitor distance is the same as coefficient matching. It matches how targets move right at the exact center of your crosshair.

It gives the best feel for tiny micro-corrections but drifts off at the screen edges. 75% is the popular pick because it balances the center and the edges.
