Introduction

This Ovulation Calculator helps you find the best days to try for a baby. It shows when you are most likely to get pregnant each month.

To use it, pick the first day of your last period on the calendar. Then enter how long your cycle usually lasts. The tool does the rest.

You will see your fertile window, your ovulation day, and the best day to take a pregnancy test. You will also see when your next period may start and a possible due date if you conceive.

The results show up on an easy-to-read calendar and timeline. You can even check up to three cycles ahead, so you can plan with more time.

Not sure how long your cycle is? Use the built-in helper. Just add two period start dates, and it will count the days for you.

These dates are estimates to guide you. Every body is different, so talk to your doctor for advice that fits you. You may also like our Conception Calculator and Pregnancy Weight Gain Calculator.

What Is Ovulation?

Ovulation is when one of your ovaries lets go of an egg. This happens about once each month. The egg moves into your tube and waits to meet sperm. If sperm meets the egg, you can get pregnant. If not, the egg breaks down and your period starts about two weeks later.

What Is the Fertile Window?

The fertile window is the best time to try for a baby. It is the few days before ovulation plus the day you ovulate. Sperm can live in your body for up to five days. So having sex in this window gives the egg and sperm the best chance to meet.

How to Find Your Ovulation Day

To guess your ovulation day, you need two things: the first day of your last period and how long your cycle is. A cycle starts on the first day of one period and ends the day before your next period. The average cycle is 28 days, but yours may be longer or shorter. That is okay. Once you know your likely conception date, our Due Date Calculator can estimate when your baby may arrive.

What Is the Luteal Phase?

The luteal phase is the time from ovulation to your next period. For most people it lasts about 14 days. This part of your cycle stays about the same length even when your cycle changes. Knowing it helps make your ovulation guess more correct.

The Best Day to Take a Pregnancy Test

The best time to test is the day your period is late. Testing too soon can give a wrong answer. Waiting until your missed period gives a clearer result.

Things to Keep in Mind

These dates are guesses, not exact facts. Stress, sickness, sleep, and other things can change when you ovulate. This tool gives you a helpful idea, but it cannot promise a date. If you want sure answers, talk to a doctor or nurse. To support a healthy pregnancy, you may find our BMI Calculator and Water Intake Calculator useful too.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is this ovulation calculator?

This tool gives a good estimate, not an exact date. It uses your period date and cycle length to guess your fertile days. Your real ovulation day can shift due to stress, sleep, or sickness. Use it as a helpful guide, and ask your doctor for more sure answers.

What if my cycle length is not the same every month?

That is normal. Many people have cycles that change a little. Pick the length that happens most often, or use your average. If your cycles change a lot, your fertile window may also shift. Tracking a few months can help you spot a pattern.

Can I use this calculator if my periods are irregular?

You can, but the results may be less exact. Irregular periods make ovulation harder to guess. Try using your average cycle length over a few months. For more help, talk to a doctor about other ways to track ovulation.

Why does the calculator ask for my luteal phase?

The luteal phase is the time from ovulation to your next period. It is often about 14 days and stays steady even when your cycle changes. Setting it makes your ovulation guess more correct. Leave it at 14 if you are not sure.

What does the fertile window mean?

The fertile window is the best time to try for a baby. It is the five days before ovulation plus the ovulation day. Sperm can live up to five days inside your body, so this window gives the egg and sperm the best chance to meet.

Can I see more than one cycle ahead?

Yes. You can pick 1, 2, or 3 cycles to view. This helps you plan ahead for the next few months. Each cycle shows its own fertile window, ovulation day, and test day.

How do I find my cycle length if I do not know it?

Click the help button under the cycle field. Enter the start date of two periods in a row. The tool counts the days between them to find your cycle length. Then you can use that number right away.

When is the best day to take a pregnancy test?

The best day is when your period is late. The tool marks this day in orange on the calendar. Testing too early can give a wrong result. Waiting until your missed period gives a clearer answer.

Is the due date shown a sure date?

No, it is only an estimate. The due date is based on the day you may conceive plus about 266 days. Most babies arrive within a couple weeks of this date. Your doctor can give a more exact date with a scan.

Does using this calculator mean I will get pregnant?

No tool can promise that. This calculator shows your most fertile days to improve your chances. Many things affect getting pregnant. If you have tried for a while with no luck, talk to a doctor for advice.

Why can't I pick a future date for my last period?

Your last period must have already started. The calendar blocks future days so the math stays correct. Pick a real date from today or the past.

What is the difference between ovulation day and the fertile window?

Ovulation day is the one day your ovary releases an egg. The fertile window is a longer span of about six days around it. You can get pregnant on any day in the window, but the chance is highest near ovulation day.

Can I track ovulation while breastfeeding?

It can be hard. Breastfeeding may delay your periods and ovulation. The calculator works best with regular cycles. While nursing, your results may be off, so use them with care and ask your doctor.
