What does the rarity gauge show?

The gauge is a visual bar split into four zones: Rare (under 1%), High Standards (1–5%), Selective (5–15%), and Realistic (15% or more). A needle points to where your result falls so you can see at a glance how common or rare your match is.

What is the difference between the match percentage and the headcount?

The match percentage is the share of the target population that meets all your criteria. The headcount turns that percentage into an estimated number of real people in your chosen area — city, state, country, or multiple countries.

Does changing my search area affect the match percentage?

No. The match percentage stays the same no matter which area you pick. Choosing a city, state, country, or multiple countries only changes the headcount — the estimated number of qualifying people near you.

How is height calculated in the tool?

Height follows a normal distribution (bell curve). The calculator uses the known average height and standard deviation for men or women in your chosen country. It then finds what share of people fall between your minimum and maximum height using that curve.

How is income calculated?

Income follows a log-normal distribution because most people earn modest amounts while a small group earns a lot. The calculator uses the median income for the target gender and country, then finds what share falls within your chosen income range.

What does the Exclude Married toggle do exactly?

When turned on, it only counts single adults. The tool uses age-specific single rates — younger groups have higher single rates, older groups vary. This filter removes married, engaged, or otherwise unavailable people from the pool.

What counts as obese in this calculator?

The calculator uses a BMI of 30 or higher as the cutoff for obesity. This matches the standard set by the CDC and WHO. The obesity rate changes by country — for example, about 42% of U.S. adults and about 28% of U.K. adults meet this threshold.

Can I select more than one ethnicity?

Yes. Click multiple ethnicity buttons to select more than one group. The calculator uses OR logic, meaning anyone who belongs to any of your selected groups qualifies. This widens your pool instead of narrowing it.

What do the three result tones do?

Neutral gives plain, data-driven language. Playful adds light humor while staying honest. Savage is blunt and holds nothing back. The tone only changes the wording of your result label and description. It does not change the math or the percentage.

Are the results 100% accurate?

Why does the calculator assume each filter is independent?

Treating each filter as independent is a standard simplification in statistics. It means the tool multiplies each filter's pass rate together. In reality, some traits may be slightly linked (for example, taller people may earn a bit more on average), but the effect is small enough that independence is a reasonable assumption for a quick estimate.

Which countries are supported?

What happens if I set the maximum height or income slider all the way to the right?

Sliding the maximum all the way to the right means no upper limit. For height, that means anyone at or above your minimum height qualifies. For income, it means anyone earning at or above your minimum income qualifies. This gives you the widest possible pool for that filter.
