Introduction

Selling on Amazon through FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) can be a great way to make money, but you need to know your costs before you start. Amazon charges fees for storing and shipping your products, and those fees eat into your profit. This free FBA calculator helps you see exactly how much you will earn on each sale.

Enter a product ASIN or pick one of the examples to get started. The calculator pulls in product details like weight, size, and category, then figures out your Amazon referral fee, FBA fulfillment fee, and monthly storage fee. It also shows your net profit, profit margin, and return on investment (ROI) per unit. You can change the sell price, cost of goods, and shipping costs to test different scenarios.

The tool supports 10 Amazon marketplaces, including the US, UK, Canada, Germany, and more. It adjusts currency, units, and fee structures based on the marketplace you choose. You also get a full step-by-step breakdown of every calculation, revenue projections based on estimated monthly sales, and a visual chart that shows where each dollar of your sell price goes.

How to Use Our FBA Calculator

Enter your product details and costs below. The calculator will show you Amazon fees, net profit per unit, profit margin, ROI, and monthly revenue projections.

Amazon Marketplace: Pick the Amazon store where you sell. This sets the correct currency, units, and fee structure for your country. If you need to convert between currencies manually, try our Currency Calculator.

Product ASIN: Type or paste the 10-character ASIN for your product and click "Get Product Data." The tool will load the product title, dimensions, weight, category, price, and sales data. You can also click one of the example ASINs to try it out.

Data Set (Current or 30-Day Average): In the Price, Sales & Competition table, click "Select" next to the row you want to use. This fills in the sell price and estimated sales for you.

Sell Price: Enter the price you plan to charge per unit. This is the amount the customer pays on Amazon. If you need help setting the right price above your costs, our Markup Calculator can help you determine appropriate markups.

Inbound Shipping to Amazon: Enter what it costs you to ship one unit to an Amazon fulfillment center. If you need to estimate your shipping expenses, our Shipping Calculator can help.

Additional / Misc. Costs: Enter any extra per-unit costs like prep, labeling, or inspection fees.

Cost of Goods (COGS): Enter how much you pay to make or buy one unit of your product.

Est. Monthly Sales: Enter how many units you expect to sell each month. This is used for revenue and profit projections.

Number of Sellers: Enter how many sellers compete on this listing. The tool divides total sales and profit by this number to estimate your share.

Click "Calculate" to see your full fee breakdown, profit summary, revenue projections, step-by-step math, and a visual chart of where your sell price goes. Click "Reset" to return all cost fields to their default values.

What Is Amazon FBA?

FBA stands for Fulfillment by Amazon. It is a service where you send your products to Amazon's warehouse. When a customer buys your item, Amazon packs it, ships it, and handles returns for you. In exchange, Amazon charges you a set of fees for doing this work.

What Does This FBA Calculator Do?

This calculator helps you figure out if selling a product on Amazon FBA will make you money. You enter a product's ASIN (a 10-character ID Amazon gives every item), and the tool pulls up its details. It then calculates the three main Amazon fees — the referral fee, the FBA fulfillment fee, and the monthly storage fee — so you can see exactly how much Amazon takes from each sale.

After fees, it subtracts your own costs like the price you paid for the product, shipping to Amazon's warehouse, and any extra costs like labeling or prep. What's left is your net profit per unit. It also shows your profit margin and return on investment (ROI) so you can judge if the product is worth selling. If you want to know the minimum number of units you need to sell to cover your fixed costs, our Break Even Calculator is a useful companion tool.

Key Amazon FBA Fees Explained

The referral fee is a percentage of your sell price that Amazon keeps on every sale. The rate depends on the product category. For example, electronics pay 8%, while most other categories pay 15%.

The FBA fulfillment fee is a flat charge per unit that covers picking, packing, and shipping your item to the buyer. The amount depends on the product's size tier and its billable weight. Billable weight is the greater of the item's actual weight or its dimensional weight. Dimensional weight is found by multiplying length × width × height and dividing by 139. You can also use our dedicated Volumetric Weight Calculator to double-check this figure for any package.

The monthly storage fee is what Amazon charges to keep your product in its warehouse. It is based on how much space your item takes up, measured in cubic feet. Keeping track of lead times for your inventory can help you avoid overstocking and reduce these storage costs.

Why Profit Margin and ROI Matter

Profit margin tells you what percentage of your sell price you keep as profit after all costs. A higher margin means more money in your pocket per sale. ROI tells you how much profit you earn compared to how much you spent. If your ROI is 100%, you doubled your money. Both numbers help you decide if a product is a smart investment before you commit to buying inventory.

If you sell on other platforms alongside Amazon, our eBay Fee Calculator and Etsy Fee Calculator can help you compare fees across marketplaces. For a broader look at your e-commerce business health, consider tracking your customer acquisition cost and customer lifetime value to make sure your advertising spend is paying off over the long term.

Frequently asked questions

Is this FBA calculator free to use?

Yes. This FBA calculator is 100% free. You can run calculations as many times as you want. The only limit is the ASIN lookup feature, which allows 5 searches per session. Refresh the page to reset that counter.

What is an ASIN and where do I find it?

An ASIN is a 10-character code Amazon assigns to every product. You can find it on any Amazon product page under the Product Information section. It is also in the product URL after /dp/. For example, in amazon.com/dp/B08N5WRWNW, the ASIN is B08N5WRWNW.

What is the difference between actual weight and dimensional weight?

Actual weight is how much your product weighs on a scale. Dimensional weight is based on how much space the package takes up. Amazon calculates it as length × width × height ÷ 139 (in inches). Amazon charges you based on whichever weight is higher. This is called the billable weight.

What are the Amazon FBA size tiers?

Amazon groups products into size tiers that affect your fulfillment fee. The main tiers are Small Standard, Large Standard, Small Oversize, Medium Oversize, Large Oversize, and Special Oversize. Smaller, lighter items cost less to fulfill. This calculator figures out the tier for you based on the product's dimensions and weight.

How accurate are the fee estimates?

The calculator uses Amazon's published fee rates and size tier rules to give you a close estimate. Actual fees may vary slightly because Amazon updates its rates from time to time. Always check Amazon Seller Central for the most current fee schedule before making final decisions.

What does the referral fee percentage depend on?

The referral fee rate depends on the product category. For example, Electronics items have an 8% referral fee, while Home & Kitchen and most other categories have a 15% fee. Clothing is 17%. The calculator picks the correct rate based on the product's category.

What should I enter for Cost of Goods (COGS)?

Enter the amount you pay to buy or make one unit of your product. This includes the purchase price from your supplier or your manufacturing cost. Do not include shipping to Amazon or prep fees here — those have their own fields.

What counts as Additional or Misc. Costs?

This field covers any extra per-unit costs that are not your product cost or inbound shipping. Common examples include prep fees, labeling costs, inspection fees, poly bagging, or bundle assembly. If you have no extra costs, set this to 0.

How does the calculator estimate monthly sales?

Monthly sales estimates are based on the product's Best Sellers Rank (BSR) and category data. These are rough estimates meant to help you project revenue. Actual sales can be higher or lower depending on competition, season, advertising, and other factors.

What does the Number of Sellers field do?

This field tells the calculator how many sellers are competing on the same listing. The tool divides the total estimated monthly sales and profit by this number to show your estimated share. If you are the only seller, enter 1.

Can I use this calculator for products not in the example list?

Yes. Type any valid 10-character ASIN into the search box and click Get Product Data. If the ASIN is not in the built-in database, the calculator will generate estimated product data so you can still run your fee and profit calculations.

How do I switch between Amazon marketplaces?

Use the Amazon Marketplace dropdown at the top of the calculator. Pick your country and all fees, currency symbols, and measurement units will update automatically. The tool supports the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Mexico, India, and the Netherlands.

What is the difference between Current and 30-Day Average data?

The Current row shows today's price, sales rank, and estimated sales. The 30-Day Average row shows the average over the past 30 days. The average can give you a more stable picture since prices and ranks change daily. Click Select next to the row you want to use for your calculations.

What does Seller Proceeds mean?

Seller Proceeds is the money left from your sell price after Amazon takes its fees. It equals your sell price minus the referral fee, FBA fulfillment fee, and monthly storage fee. It does not subtract your own costs like COGS or inbound shipping — that comes out in the net profit calculation.

What is a good profit margin for Amazon FBA?

Most successful FBA sellers aim for a net profit margin of 15% to 30%. Below 10% is risky because small price changes or fee increases can wipe out your profit. Above 30% is strong. Use this calculator to test different sell prices and costs to find a margin you are comfortable with.

What is a good ROI for an FBA product?

A common target is an ROI of 100% or higher, meaning you at least double your investment. An ROI of 50% can still be worthwhile for fast-selling products. The higher your ROI, the more profit you earn relative to what you spent on inventory and costs.

How does the Dimensional Weight Calculator section work?

The collapsible Dimensional Weight Calculator at the bottom lets you enter custom dimensions and weight for any package. It calculates the dimensional weight, compares it to the actual weight, and tells you which one Amazon will use as the billable weight. It also shows the estimated size tier.

Why does my net profit show in red?

Red text means your net profit is negative — you are losing money on each sale. This usually happens when your costs and Amazon fees are higher than your sell price. Try raising your sell price, lowering your COGS, or finding a cheaper shipping method to turn the number green.

What does the donut chart show?

The Sell Price Distribution chart breaks down every dollar of your sell price into its parts: referral fee, FBA fulfillment fee, storage fee, inbound shipping, misc. costs, COGS, and net profit (or net loss). It gives you a quick visual of where your money goes.

Does this calculator include long-term storage fees?

No. This calculator only includes the standard monthly storage fee. Amazon charges extra long-term storage fees for inventory that sits in their warehouse for more than 365 days. If you plan to store products for a long time, add those fees manually to the Misc. Costs field.

Can I save or export my results?

The calculator does not have a built-in save or export button. To keep your results, you can take a screenshot, print the page, or copy the numbers into a spreadsheet. Your data stays on the page as long as you do not refresh or close the browser tab.

What does Bought in Past Month mean?

Bought in Past Month shows roughly how many units customers purchased in the last 30 days across all sellers on that listing. Amazon displays this on many product pages. It helps you gauge demand for the product.
