Stats and Soft Caps

Your character has eight core stats: Vigor, Mind, Endurance, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, and Arcane. Each stat has soft caps. A soft cap is a point where adding more levels gives you less benefit. For example, Vigor gives a lot of HP up to level 40, decent HP up to 60, and very little after that. Weapons and Attack Rating

Every weapon in Elden Ring has a base damage and stat scaling. Scaling means the weapon gets stronger based on your stats. A weapon with high Strength scaling hits harder when you have high Strength. Why does my weapon show a warning icon next to a stat requirement?

The warning means your current stats are too low to use that weapon properly. When you do not meet a weapon's stat requirements, the calculator applies a 40% damage penalty. Raise the needed stat or turn on two-handed grip to get 1.5× effective Strength.

What do the color bars next to each stat mean?

The color bars show how efficient your next stat point will be. Green means high efficiency — you are below the first soft cap. Orange means moderate efficiency — you passed one soft cap but not the last. Red means low efficiency — you passed all soft caps and gain very little per point.

How is character level calculated?

Character level equals the sum of all eight stats minus 79. For example, if your stats add up to 200, your level is 200 − 79 = 121.

What is the difference between Smithing Stone Level and Somber Smithing Level?

Smithing Stone Level (0–25) is for regular weapons you can infuse with affinities. Somber Smithing Level (0–10) is for unique or special weapons that cannot be infused. The calculator picks the right one for each weapon automatically.

How does the two-handed grip toggle change my build?

Turning on two-handed grip multiplies your effective Strength by 1.5. This helps you meet weapon Strength requirements and increases your attack rating on Strength-scaling weapons. It does not change your actual Strength stat.

No. Quick items are for planning only. They let you note which consumables you want to bring, but they do not change any stat or damage number in the calculator.

What is the Guard and Stability view for weapons?

It switches a weapon slot from showing attack rating to showing shield stats instead. You see guard boost, stability, and absorption percentages for each damage type. Use it when you equip a shield in a left-hand slot.

How do Scadutree Blessings work in the calculator?

Each Scadutree Blessing level adds about 5.5% bonus damage and 3.5% damage negation. These only apply inside DLC areas. Set the level from 0 to 20 and make sure the DLC toggle is on to include them.

What are soft caps and why should I care?

Soft caps are stat thresholds where the benefit per level drops. For example, Vigor gives great HP gains up to 40, good gains up to 60, and very small gains after that. Knowing soft caps helps you stop wasting points on stats that barely improve.

How do Great Runes change my effective stats?

It shows how many runes you need to go from your current level to the next one. The total runes number shows how many runes it took to reach your current level from level 1. Both use the game's actual rune cost formula.

Does the Wondrous Physick stack with Great Rune bonuses?

Yes. If both are activated, the calculator adds the Great Rune stat boosts and the Crystal Tear stat boosts together. Your effective stats show the combined total, capped at 99 per stat.
