Introduction

This TBC Talent Calculator lets you plan your character build for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. Pick any of the nine classes, then spend up to 61 talent points across three talent trees. Left-click a talent to add a point. Right-click to remove one. You can see how each point changes your build in real time.

The calculator works just like the talent system in the game. You unlock new rows of talents by spending five points in the row before them. Some talents also require you to max out another talent first. If a talent is locked, the tool will tell you why.

You can also load suggested builds for every class. These are popular TBC builds used for raiding, dungeons, and PvP. If you want to track your performance in battlegrounds, try our KD Calculator alongside your talent plan. Each suggested build fills in the points for you so you can study it or use it as a starting point. Adjust the character level slider to see how many points you have at any level from 10 to 70. The build summary and chart at the bottom update as you go, giving you a clear look at where your points are spent.

How to Use Our TBC Talent Calculator

Pick your class, set your level, and spend your talent points. The calculator shows your full build summary and a point distribution chart.

Choose a Class: Click one of the nine class cards at the top. This loads all three talent trees for that class. If you already spent points, you will be asked to confirm before switching.

Set Your Character Level: Use the slider or type a number between 1 and 70. Your level decides how many talent points you have. Level 70 gives you 61 points. If you lower your level, extra points are removed automatically. If you enjoy level planning in other RPGs, our Elden Ring Level Calculator can help you optimize stat distribution in that game as well.

Add Talent Points: Left-click any unlocked talent icon to add one point. Talents glow green when partially filled and gold when maxed out. Grayed-out talents are locked until you spend enough points in that tree or meet a prerequisite.

Remove Talent Points: Right-click a talent or click the red minus button on its icon to take one point away. You cannot remove a point if other talents depend on it.

Search Talents: Type a keyword like "crit" or "Fireball" in the search box. Matching talents are highlighted and the rest are dimmed.

Load a Suggested Build: Pick a preset build from the dropdown menu and click "Load." This fills in a proven talent setup for your class so you can start from a tested template.

Reset Points: Click "Reset All" to clear every talent point at once. You can also reset a single tree by clicking the "Reset" button below that tree.

View Your Results: The Build Summary section lists every talent you picked and how many points you spent in each tree. The Point Distribution chart shows a visual breakdown of where your points went.

TBC Talent Trees Explained

In World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (TBC), every class gets access to three talent trees. Each tree focuses on a different role or playstyle. For example, a Warrior can pick Arms for big weapon damage, Fury for fast attacks, or Protection to be a tank. You earn your first talent point at level 10 and get one more each time you level up. At the level cap of 70, you have 61 talent points to spend.

Talent trees are split into rows called tiers. You must spend 5 points in a tree before the next tier unlocks. Some talents also require you to max out a specific talent before you can pick them. These are shown by arrows connecting one talent to another. This means you cannot just skip to the bottom of a tree. You have to build your way down.

Most players put the bulk of their points into one tree to reach the powerful final talent at the bottom. This is often called a "deep" spec. The remaining points go into one or both of the other trees for extra utility or damage. Use our DPS Calculator to estimate how much damage your chosen build can put out. Common builds are written in a shorthand like 41/20/0, which shows how many points go into each tree from left to right.

Choosing the right talents matters a lot in TBC. A good build can make you heal better, deal more damage, or survive longer in dungeons and raids. A bad build wastes points on talents that do not help your role. If you play other MMOs and want similar planning tools, check out our OSRS Combat Calculator for Old School RuneScape or our Pokémon Damage Calculator for competitive Pokémon battling. Each of the nine TBC classes — Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior — has its own set of trees with unique abilities to unlock.

Frequently asked questions

How many talent points do I get in TBC?

You get your first talent point at level 10. You earn one more point each level after that. At the level 70 cap, you have 61 talent points total to spend across your three talent trees.

Can I undo a talent point after I place it?

Yes. Right-click the talent icon or click the small red minus button on it. The point will be removed as long as no other talents depend on it. If a talent is locked in by other picks, you will need to remove those first.

Why is a talent grayed out and locked?

A talent is locked for one of two reasons. Either you have not spent enough points in that tree to reach its tier, or it requires another specific talent to be maxed out first. Hover over the locked talent to see exactly what is needed.

What does the notation like 41/20/0 mean?

It shows how many points are in each of your three talent trees from left to right. For example, 41/20/0 means 41 points in the first tree, 20 in the second, and 0 in the third.

Does this calculator save my build?

No. Your build is not saved when you close or refresh the page. If you want to keep your build, write down the talent notation or take a screenshot before you leave.

Can I use this on my phone?

Yes. The calculator works on mobile devices. The talent trees scroll sideways so you can swipe through them. Tap a talent to add a point and use the minus button to remove one.

What happens if I lower my character level?

The calculator removes extra points automatically. It takes points away starting from the deepest talents first so your build stays valid.

How do I reset just one talent tree?

Click the Reset button at the bottom of that tree. It will ask you to confirm, then clear only the points in that one tree. Your other two trees stay the same.

What do the arrow lines between talents mean?

Arrows show that one talent requires another. You must fully max out the talent at the start of the arrow before the talent at the end becomes available. The arrow turns gold once the requirement is met.

Why can't I remove a point from a talent?

Other talents further down the tree depend on that point. If you removed it, those talents would no longer meet their tier or prerequisite requirements. Remove the dependent talents first, then you can take the point back.

How many points do I need to unlock each tier?

Each new tier needs 5 more points spent in that tree. Tier 1 is open right away. Tier 2 needs 5 points, tier 3 needs 10, and so on up to the final tier which needs 40 points in that tree.

Are the suggested builds good for raiding?

Yes. The suggested builds are based on popular TBC raid specs. They give you a strong starting point. You can tweak them to fit your playstyle or your guild's needs.

Which classes are available in this calculator?

All nine TBC classes are included: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior. Each class has its full set of three Burning Crusade talent trees.

What does the gold glow on a talent mean?

A gold border and glow mean that talent is maxed out. You have spent the maximum number of points in it. A green glow means it has some points but is not yet full.

Can I switch classes without losing my build?

No. Switching to a different class resets all your talent points. The calculator will ask you to confirm before it clears your current build.

What does the donut chart at the bottom show?

The chart gives a visual breakdown of how your 61 points are split across your three talent trees. It updates in real time as you add or remove points.
