Introduction

A birth chart is a map of the sky from the moment you were born. It shows where the Sun, Moon, planets, and stars were at that time. This map can tell you a lot about your traits, your moods, and the way you act.

This birth chart calculator makes it easy to find out yours. Just type in your birth date, your birth time, and the city where you were born. The tool does the math for you and shows your results fast.

You will see your Big Three: your Sun sign, Moon sign, and Rising sign. The Sun sign shows who you are at your core. The Moon sign shows your feelings. The Rising sign shows how others see you. You will also get a full chart wheel, a table of all your planet spots, and a look at your element and modality balance.

If you do not know your birth time, that is okay. You can still get most of your chart. Just check the box that says you do not know it. Try it now and learn more about yourself. You may also enjoy our Numerology Calculator and Life Path Number Calculator to dig even deeper.

How to use our Birth Chart Calculator

Enter your birth date, time, and city. The calculator shows your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs, all your planet positions, a natal chart wheel, and your element and modality balance.

Type your name in the Name box. This is optional and just adds your name to your chart title.

Pick your pronouns by tapping He/Him, She/Her, or They/Them.

Choose your birth month, day, and year from the drop-down menus. You can use our Age Calculator if you want to check your exact age too.

Pick the hour and minute you were born. If you do not know your birth time, check the "I don't know my birth time" box. We will use 12:00 Noon and skip your Rising sign and houses.

Start typing your city of birth, then pick the closest match from the list. This sets your location and time zone.

Click "Calculate My Birth Chart" to see your results. Click "Reset / Start Over" to clear the form and begin again.

What Is a Birth Chart?

A birth chart is a map of the sky from the moment you were born. It shows where the Sun, Moon, and planets sat in the zodiac at your exact birth time and place. Many people use it to learn more about themselves in astrology.

Your Big Three

The three most talked-about parts of a chart are your Sun sign, Moon sign, and Rising sign. Here is what each one means:

  • Sun sign: Your core self and the way you shine. This is the sign most people already know.
  • Moon sign: Your feelings and your inner world. It shows how you deal with emotions.
  • Rising sign: Also called the Ascendant. It is the sign that was coming up over the east when you were born. It shows how others first see you.

Why Birth Time Matters

Your Rising sign and house spots change fast through the day. So you need your birth time to find them. If you do not know your time, you can still see your Sun, Moon, and planet signs. But the Rising sign and houses will be left out.

The 12 Zodiac Signs

There are 12 signs: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Each sign has an element (Fire, Earth, Air, or Water) and a way of acting called a modality (Cardinal, Fixed, or Mutable). Looking at the balance of these can tell you a lot about your style.

Planets and Houses

Each planet rules a part of life. For example, Venus is tied to love and Mars is tied to drive. The houses are 12 slices of the chart that show where these energies play out, like work, home, or friends. Together, the planets, signs, and houses make your full birth chart unique to you.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my exact birth time to use this tool?

No. You can still get most of your chart without it. Just check the box that says you do not know your birth time. We use 12:00 Noon and skip your Rising sign and houses. Your Sun, Moon, and planet signs will still show.

Why can't I find my small town in the city list?

The tool uses a list of major cities. If your town is missing, pick the closest big city to where you were born. This sets the right time zone and a location very close to yours, so your chart stays accurate.

What are the Big Three in my chart?

The Big Three are your Sun sign, Moon sign, and Rising sign. The Sun shows your core self. The Moon shows your feelings. The Rising shows how others first see you. Together they give a quick view of who you are.

What does the chart wheel show?

The chart wheel is a round map of the sky at your birth. It shows the 12 zodiac signs around the edge and where each planet sat inside them. If you gave a birth time, it also marks your Rising sign as ASC.

What is element and modality balance?

Each sign has an element (Fire, Earth, Air, or Water) and a modality (Cardinal, Fixed, or Mutable). The charts count how many of your planets fall in each one. This shows your style, like if you lean more emotional, grounded, or active.

Does the calculator adjust for daylight saving time?

Yes. The tool checks the date and your city to guess if daylight saving time was on. It then shifts your time to get the right sky map. Births within a day of a clock change may be a little off.

Why did my Rising sign get left out?

Your Rising sign changes fast through the day, so it needs an exact birth time. If you checked the box that says you do not know your time, the tool skips the Rising sign and houses. Add your time to see them.

What are houses in a birth chart?

Houses are 12 slices of the chart that show where life happens, like work, home, love, or friends. Each planet falls in a house. This tells you which part of your life that planet's energy affects most.

What is the North Node and South Node?

The Nodes are two points tied to the Moon's path. Many people link the North Node to growth and the road ahead. The South Node sits across from it and is linked to past habits and gifts you already have.

Is my chart saved or shared?

No. The tool does all the math right in your browser. Your birth info is not stored or sent anywhere. When you close or reset the page, your data is gone.

Why does my Sun sign look different from a horoscope app?

Most apps use set date ranges. This tool finds the real Sun spot for your birth day, time, and place. If you were born near the edge of two signs, your true Sun sign may differ. Our result is more exact.

Can I use this if I was born in a southern country?

Yes. The tool works for cities all over the world, north and south. It even adjusts daylight saving time for southern places like Australia, where the seasons are flipped. Just pick your closest city from the list.

What does the degree number next to a planet mean?

Each sign covers 30 degrees. The degree shows how far into a sign a planet sits, like 14 degrees of Leo. A low number means early in the sign and a high number means near the end.

Do I have to enter my name?

No, the name box is optional. If you add it, your name just shows in the chart title. Leaving it blank does not change any of your results.
