Introduction

The Days From Date Calculator helps you find a date that is a certain number of days before or after a start date. Pick a start date, type in the number of days, and choose whether to count forward or backward. The tool gives you the result right away. You can also switch to business days mode to skip weekends and only count Monday through Friday.

This calculator is useful when you need to figure out deadlines, due dates, expiration dates, or any date in the future or past. It breaks down the time span into years, months, weeks, and days so you can see exactly how far apart the two dates are. It also shows the day of the week, the ISO week number, and the calendar quarter for the result date.

How to Use Our Days From Date Calculator

Enter a start date and a number of days to find out what date falls that many days in the future or past. The calculator will show you the result date along with a full time span breakdown.

Start Date: Pick the date you want to count from. Click the "Today" button to quickly set it to today's date, or type in any date you like.

Number of Days: Enter the number of days you want to add or subtract. This must be a whole number, like 30 or 90. Use the quick preset buttons to fill in common values such as 7 days, 30 days, or 365 days.

Direction: Choose "Add (Future)" to count forward from your start date, or choose "Subtract (Past)" to count backward.

Business Days Only: Turn this switch on if you want to skip Saturdays and Sundays. Only Monday through Friday will be counted as days. For more detailed weekday counting options, try our Business Days Calculator.

Calculate: Press the "Calculate" button to see your result. The tool updates automatically as you change any input. You will see the result date, the day of the week, the ISO week number, the quarter, and a full breakdown in years, months, weeks, and days.

What Is a Days From Date Calculator?

A days from date calculator helps you find a new date by adding or subtracting a set number of days from any starting date. For example, if you need to know what date falls 90 days from today, this tool gives you the answer instantly. It works for both future dates (adding days) and past dates (subtracting days). If you want to count down to a specific upcoming event instead, our Days Until Calculator is designed for that purpose.

Why Count Days From a Date?

People count days from a date for many everyday reasons. You might need to track a deadline, figure out when a warranty expires, or find a due date for a bill. Courts and legal offices often use day counts to set filing deadlines. Doctors count days to schedule follow-up visits. Landlords count days to mark the end of a lease notice period. Businesses also rely on day counting when calculating lead time for orders and deliveries. Any time you need to know an exact date a certain number of days away, this type of calculation comes in handy.

Calendar Days vs. Business Days

There are two common ways to count days. Calendar days include every single day — weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Business days only count Monday through Friday, skipping Saturdays and Sundays. Most legal and shipping deadlines use calendar days. Workplaces and banks often use business days. Knowing which type of count you need is important because the result date can be very different. For instance, 30 business days is about six full weeks on a calendar, not just one month. If you need to measure the exact span between two known dates, our Date Duration Calculator can help, and our Weeks Calculator is handy for converting spans into weeks.

How Day Counting Works

Day counting starts the day after the start date. If your start date is June 1 and you add 10 days, the count begins on June 2 and ends on June 11. This is the standard method used in most legal, financial, and medical fields. The start date itself is considered day zero, not day one. For more general date arithmetic, including adding months or years, you can use our Date Calculator.

Leap Years and Day Counting

A regular year has 365 days, but a leap year has 366 because February gets an extra day. Leap years happen every four years, with a few exceptions for certain century years. When you count a large number of days that crosses over February, a leap year can shift your result by one day. This calculator handles leap years automatically, so you always get the correct date. If you are curious about the exact time span between two people's birthdays or want to find someone's precise age in days, our Age Calculator does that math for you.

Frequently asked questions

What date is 30 days from today?

Set the start date to today, type 30 in the days field, and choose Add (Future). The calculator will show you the exact date that is 30 days from now, along with the day of the week.

What date is 90 days from today?

Click the Today button, enter 90 in the days field, and press Calculate. The result will display the date that falls exactly 90 calendar days from today.

Does the calculator count the start date as day one?

No. The start date is day zero. Counting begins the day after the start date. If you start on June 1 and add 1 day, the result is June 2.

Can I find a date in the past?

Yes. Select Subtract (Past) as the direction. The calculator will count backward from your start date by the number of days you enter.

Does business days mode skip holidays?

No. Business days mode only skips Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays that fall on a weekday are still counted. You would need to adjust for holidays on your own.

What is the largest number of days I can enter?

You can enter up to 100,000 days. That is about 273 years. This limit keeps the calculator fast and accurate.

Can I enter decimals or negative numbers?

No. The days field only accepts whole numbers that are zero or greater. If you type a decimal or a negative number, the tool will show an error message.

What do the quick preset buttons do?

The preset buttons fill in common day counts like 7, 30, 90, or 365 for you. They also switch the direction to Add (Future) automatically. You can still change the direction after clicking a preset.

What is the ISO week number shown in the result?

The ISO week number is a standard way to label weeks in a year, running from Week 1 to Week 52 or 53. It follows the ISO 8601 rule where weeks start on Monday and Week 1 contains the first Thursday of the year.

What does the quarter value mean?

A quarter divides the year into four parts. Q1 is January through March, Q2 is April through June, Q3 is July through September, and Q4 is October through December.

How do I copy the result date?

Click the Copy Result button below the result date. The full date text will be copied to your clipboard. A short confirmation message will appear next to the button.

Why is my business day result so much later than the calendar day result?

Business days skip every Saturday and Sunday. For every 5 business days, about 7 calendar days pass. So 30 business days takes roughly 42 calendar days, which is about six weeks.

Does this calculator work for dates far in the past or future?

Yes. You can pick any valid date your browser supports. Combined with up to 100,000 days, you can reach dates hundreds of years into the past or future.

What is the time span breakdown?

The breakdown splits the total gap between your start date and result date into years, months, weeks, and days. It also shows the span as just weeks and days, and as total calendar days.

Do I need to press Calculate every time I change something?

No. The calculator updates on its own whenever you change the start date, the number of days, the direction, or the business days switch. The Calculate button is there if you want to trigger it manually.
