This ETA calculator helps you figure out when you will arrive at your destination. Enter your distance, speed, and departure time, and the tool calculates your arrival time. It accounts for stops, traffic delays, and even different time zones so you get an accurate estimated time of arrival.

The calculator has two modes. Travel Mode lets you plan a road trip or any journey by car, bus, or bike. You can find your arrival time, figure out how fast you need to drive, or work out when to leave. Task Progress Mode helps you estimate when a job will be done based on how much work you have finished so far and how fast you are going.

Choosing a Mode

Travel Mode Instructions

Unit System: Pick Imperial (miles, MPH) or Metric (kilometers, KPH) from the dropdown.

Time Format: Choose 12-hour or 24-hour clock for how times are shown in your results.

Speed Entry Method: Pick "Speed" to type a speed like 60 MPH, or pick "Pace" to enter time per mile or kilometer.

Departure Time Zone: Select the time zone where your trip starts.

Arrival Time Zone: Select the time zone where your trip ends. This matters if you cross time zones.

Calculation Type: Pick what you want to find. "Find Arrival Time" tells you when you will get there. "Find Required Speed" tells you how fast to drive. "Find Departure Time" tells you when to leave.

Total Distance: Type the total distance of your trip in miles or kilometers.

Average Speed: Type your expected average speed. If you chose Pace mode, enter minutes and seconds per mile or kilometer instead.

Departure Date & Time: Enter the date and time you plan to leave. Click "Use current date & time" to fill in right now.

Target Arrival Date & Time: Enter the date and time you want to arrive by. This field shows up when you pick "Find Required Speed" or "Find Departure Time."

Number of Planned Stops: Pick how many stops you expect to make during your trip.

Average Stop Duration: Set how long each stop will last in hours and minutes.

Traffic / Delay Buffer: Drag the slider to add extra time for traffic or delays. The percentage is added to your drive time.

Journey Segments: Turn this on to split your trip into parts with different speeds. Click "Add Segment" and enter a name, distance, and speed for each part. This replaces the single distance and speed fields.

Calculate / Reset: Click "Calculate" to see your results. Click "Reset" to clear all fields and start over.

Task Progress Mode Instructions

Total Items: Type the total number of items or tasks in your job.

Completed Items: Type how many items you have finished so far.

Elapsed Time: Type how much time has passed since you started working.

Time Unit: Pick whether your elapsed time is in seconds, minutes, or hours.

Reference Point: Enter the date and time when work started. Click "Use now" to set it to the current time.

What Is an Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA)?

An estimated time of arrival, or ETA, is the expected date and time you will reach your destination or finish a task. It is calculated using simple math: you divide the total distance by your average speed to find how long the trip will take. Then you add that travel time to your departure time. The result is your ETA.

How Travel Time Is Calculated

The basic formula for travel time is Time = Distance ÷ Speed. If you drive 300 miles at 60 miles per hour, your drive time is 5 hours. But real trips are rarely that simple. You need to stop for gas, food, or rest. Traffic can slow you down. You might cross time zones, which shifts the clock forward or backward by one hour. A good ETA accounts for all of these factors by adding stop time and delay buffers to the raw drive time.

Why Time Zones Matter

When you travel across time zones, the clock changes even though no extra time has passed. For example, if you drive east from Chicago to New York, you lose one hour because New York is one time zone ahead. This means your arrival time on the clock is one hour later than you might expect. ETA is not just for travel. You can estimate when any task will finish. If you have 100 items to complete and you finish 25 in 30 minutes, your rate is about 50 items per hour. Tips for a More Accurate ETA

Your ETA is only as good as the numbers you put in. Use a realistic average speed, not your top speed. Add extra time for traffic, bad weather, or construction. Count every stop you plan to make, even short ones. Small delays add up fast on long trips. A 10-minute stop repeated five times adds almost an hour to your total trip time.

What does Find Required Speed do?

It tells you how fast you need to travel to arrive by a specific time. Enter your distance, departure time, and target arrival time. The calculator divides the distance by the available time to find the speed you need.

What does Find Departure Time do?

It tells you when you need to leave to arrive at your target time. Enter your distance, speed, stops, and target arrival time. The calculator subtracts the total trip time from the arrival time to find your departure time.

What happens if my trip crosses midnight?

The calculator shows a warning message telling you that your arrival is on a different calendar day than your departure. The ETA still displays the correct date and time.

How does Task Progress Mode calculate the remaining time?

It divides the number of completed items by the elapsed time to find your processing rate. Then it divides the remaining items by that rate. The result is how much more time the task will take.
